June Oketch is a British-Kenyan media composer based around London. She aims to create music that builds a unique soundscape for the world created by visuals. Sometimes, even silence is an important part of this! She loves working on projects that give her an opportunity to explore genres and styles from all over the world, and is actually in the process of building a collection of world instruments to inspire her soundtracks.
June has been composing for a number of short films that have taken her collaborations internationally, working with filmmakers, animators and game developers across the UK, USA, Spain and South Africa. She also continues to write sync music as a composer for Engrave Production Music, where she has had tracks published to major libraries. Most recently she has been commissioned by Music Lab Collective (Decca Classics) for a string quartet arrangement. Currently, June also works as a production coordinator at BBC Radio 3
June has earned a degree in Film Music (BA) from Leeds Conservatoire, as well as Masters in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games (MM) from Berklee Valencia. Here she had the opportunity to record and conduct her scores in Valencia, Budapest, and Air Studios in London with world class musicians.
Always keen on cultivating her craft, June was selected to participate in the 2025 edition of Black Lives in Music Connect programme, where she received mentorship from Rianna Henriques. In 2026, June is 1 of 10 people accepted into the third edition of the highly selective C.A.M.P film composer mentorship programme by First Artist Management.
June expresses versatility as a composer, open to a wide variety of styles. She often experiments with a combination of orchestral, synth, and organic textures to create dynamic, genre-bending scores that feel alive. For her, storytelling and connection are highly important so she strives to work closely with her collaborators to compose music that resonates with the project and audience.
